MergeFace V5 now MergeFaces V8 and fails

Hi,
V5 and V8
just spent half an hour trying to figure out why what I use in V5 fails in V8

I joined two planar faces together, then used MergeFace and it fails, again and again.

try in V5, works.

I eventually see also Merge CoPlanarFace and that works.
BUT ONLY SELECTING LARGER AREA THEN THE SMALLER ONE WITHIN IT.

In V5 it didnt matter what order the two gaces were selected.

Is this supposed to be an improvement over V5 ?

why the change ?

half hour lost.

Steve

Change was in V7.

V7 and V8:

The MergeCoplanarFace combines adjacent coplanar faces of a mesh, polysurface, or SubD into a single face.
The MergeAllCoplanarFaces command combines the faces of each planar region on a mesh, polysurface, or SubD into a single face.

The MergeFaces command merges a connected set of SubD or mesh faces into a single face.

no need for that… help was a click away… we are here live 8-5 pacific

@theoutside Where is the equivalent icon in Rhino for Windows which Steve and I use?

MergeAllCoplanarFaces ?

It’s also on the SolidTools tab. But I use an alias, it’s much easier than finding that button.

I think David was asking about the “chat” button that Kyle circled. I’m interested too. Would make it much easier and immediate to annoy Kyle, Scott, Wim, etc. Unless, of course, McNeel has added scriptreading non-English speaking “helpers” to keep up with the rest of the industry.

no ai bots… it’s either one of us, or chat is closed for the day
it’s monitored by a human 8-5 pst (closed 12-1 for lunch)

Aha! For some reason I just assumed it was a new icon available directly from an active Rhino instance.

Same here. I had not noticed it before, but that is not a web page I visit.
