Linked blocks - referenced layer visibility + selectability behaviour

In v8, if I have a linked block (reference layer option) who’s layer is locked and I use Isolate, or Invert, that Layer hides or get selected. This doesn’t happen with regular layers that are locked and I don’t think this should happen with objects on reference layers.

I currently have a file that has a total of 5GB of linked blocks referenced into it. When I close Rhino, these layers are turned off, but when I reopen the file, these blocks are all open, and it takes quite a long time for the file to load. Ideally, the layer visibility state of linked blocks (reference layers) should be retained when closing / opening a file, as happens with regular layers.

+1 to this.

It is annoying that these are always On when opening a file.

Further to this…

I just noticed that if objects on a referenced block are hidden when saving/closing the file, they remain hidden when reopening that file. This is expected behaviour and welcome!

So if the show/hide state can be remembered, is it possible to save the layer on/off state as well?

Just wanting to keep highlighting this bug.

If a layer is turned off when saving and closing a file, that layer should stay off when the file is reopened - regardless of whether it’s a referenced layer or not.

As this is not happening, I have to Hide objects on these layers before closing the file (as that state is remembered) if I don’t want them to show on reopening.

If Rhino can remember the show hide state of objects on referenced layers, it should be able to remember the on/off state of those layers. Please fix this!!
