License issues WFH

Iam having issue with Rhino V7 & V8 starting. I can login to the license server via foxfire, but cant reach it via Chrome. Iam WFH. At work Rhino runs fine. Are the any network issue with the license server?

Getting this error on my seat of Rhino that works at work not the WFH system.

Hi Dave, can you open in SafeMode and run SystemInfo in the Rhino command line and post the result? Thanks

Safemode is sans plugins and video drivers…

While reading your post, I’m not sure what the problem is.

It looks like at work you can:

1. Login using Chrome and Firefox
2. You see a plug-in load error for SelectionTools.

When you’re at home:

1. You can login using Firefox, but not Chrome
2. You can see https://api.mcneel.com from something, but your screenshot hides what browser is problematic.

So, since you can login using Firefox, why not set that as your default browser, and then Rhino will use it when you try to login from home?

Am I missing a different problem?

Hi Brian,

Main problem is Rhino will not run on my laptop. Worked last week.

Ive uninstalled it but there is still a Rhino WIP program in my Windows/apps and it wont install.

Are there any ports to check to see if they are close or Firewall issues?

what happens when you launch rhino at home? Does rhino start but not license? or is it a plugin you are missing?

Hi Dave,

The answers to your questions all are “it depends”. There are many of reasons why Rhino won’t install or run - can you please send screenshots of any errors you see? That will help us help you. Without the specific error messages, we’re just guessing - and we’ll all be extremely frustrated.

Hi Bill,

Ive left my Laptop at home, can send you some screen shots this afternoon. When launching Rhino it go through initializing to the point that stalled on the splash screen it stalls at loading plugins. It will run if I start it through safe mode. Another odd part was when I check the license server I cant log into the server via Chrome or foxfire but Edge will log in.

Iam adding Terry from IT to this tread. Maybe something beyond me that your two can figure out.

Hey Dave, please go to help>check for updates and grab the latest beta-

then check your windows update to make sure it’s fully updated, and your graphics drivers as well to make sure they are updated fully.

Rhino was stalling at the cycles plugin so when it would start Rhino in safe mode I turned it off and it would start in regular mode. Is this an issue with the Cycles plugin?

HI Kyle and Terry,

The updated didn’t fix it. I noticed at the point that it was stalling on the startup screen it would stop at Loading the Cycles plugin. I started Rhino V8 in safe mode and disable it that got it to run.

Then this moring I went to run Rhino V7 and it noticed on the same start screen v7 stalled on loading the 3dConnecx Plugin.

What is that its stalling on loading some of these plug-ins?

Going to put Terry, our IT guy, on to chime in as well.

I have Rhino on other computers this is not a problem.

Any chance you have any citrix programs installed? We have seen conflicts with them in the past.

if you can get rhin open, please run the systeminfo command and post the result.
