Hi Wim,
Exactly, not much has progressed in recent years, so hence ‘broad’ words !
No native table generator is bad, really bad
For publishing layout sheets, we need to be able to publish each sheet and keep its own layout name, I sometimes have 30+ sheets in one file, each has its own sheet name, this is important for issuing documentation and keeping track of progress etc. So a better publishing manager is important. I could go on and on, these requests are littered all over the forum, and have been for years, some links below
Hi,
I’m a long-time user since V4 and absolutely love Rhino. In my field of architecture, it is an amazing tool for designing and visualizing ideas. Yet very few people use it as a main Program for producing plans and drawings, the workflow is always relying on programs like archicad, vectorworks, revit or even Illustrator for achieving a finished layout of your project. I think that’s a shame. It looks like some improvements are being made for the layout management in the current WIP. But sinc…
Hi there,
I have an issue when I want to print multiple layouts.
The print dialogue will assign 1 page setting to the whole set of layouts I want to print.
So far I did not find an answer in the forum yet.
Is it possible to print all layouts of a file with their individually set page settings or is that not possible.
My other idea is to solve it with a script, but basically it would be very interesting to understand that more detailled.
Thanks,
T.
I love Rhino so much that I’m trying to use Layout for a very small project that can easily be accommodated by Rhino 7 on windows. However, as a professional, no matter how small the project, we require tables to schedule everything from sheet index to keynotes to plumbing schedules. Until Rhino includes a table functionality similar to ACAD or (and my preferred) a simple table reference including formatting (similar to Sticky for Revit), then the amount of time wasted is not worth it. If there …
From time to time users bring this subject up with no real answer from Mcneel. For me the best improvement Rhino 6 could offer is a real functioning Bill of Materials that works in excel, that is part of and incorporated into the layouts.
I am positive that other users would at least find this feature desirable.
Hi all, just stumbled across this…
is this just for importing a .csv into a rhino file? Or, can it do the reverse, and create a table inside of Rhino from scratch? @Matthieu_from_NAVINN
This is why/where Julian and Dimo are wondering if Rhino can be a start-to finish solution. My guess is that it really depends on what you are doing. For some disciplines/projects it may be viable to use only Rhino, for others less so.
E.g. for my line of work Rhino isn’t a one size fits all solution, though it might be nice if it could be.
Adding a Layout Panel to deal with multiple layouts is excellent, but the next step missing is to control the output of those layouts. As far as I know, there is no way to batch print multiple layouts in Rhino. Printing all layouts one by one with every revision becomes a bottleneck in the workflow, especially on larger projects.
A useful precedent is the Print Organizer function in Bentley’s Microstation. You can load multiple layouts from multiple files and centrally set up things like paper …
Just a few threads which stretch back many years, I’m sure there’s much more in the forum. I love using Rhino, my favourite design software by far. I hope the powers that be above my rank don’t force us down the route of revit (yuk). @wim where can we see whats being implemented in V8 so I can get some solid info when asked about the improvents for future versions of Rhino ? cheers
