Layer states restoration failure

Hi,

One of our clients has had trouble while restoring his layer states. In the attached scene (see below), you can observe that restoration of layer state “P4-1” breaks the material assignment.

To see it, restore “P4-1”, then restore “ALLL”. You will see that the texture assigned to a surface has changed and that the material “NewOcean” appears twice.

This issue is at the origin of a bug of our exporter plug-in for our renderer, that restore each layer state if required, so that’s a problem for us too.

Please find the scene here: google drive link

Bets regards,

Guillaume

Hi Guillaume,

Thanks for reporting and for the file. This is now filed as RH-97016 LayerStateManager: restoring layer states duplicates render material and changes texture assignment.

From an initial look it appears the layer state restore re-applies materials by table index rather than id, which is why restoring “P4-1” then “ALLL” changes the texture and duplicates NewOcean. We’ll take a look.

Thank you for your reply. This is also my intuition.
