Hi,
V5
I have need to rotate 90deg a view of an item in a detail view in layout.
Whilst there is Hide In Detail, how does one ‘rotate in detail’ ?
So far I have had to copy the original and rotate 22.5 deg to get an item ortho to view, then clone that and pull apart an item in it for the layout view of such, then hoping I dont have to clone that and rotate 90deg to get a landscape shape view I need.
In V7 you can simply change the angle in the properties panel.
In V5, activate your detail and create a CPlane that is rotated as you want. Then run SetView and use the CPlane → Top option.

Hi Wim, unable to use V7 due to dims. revamp neded,
Would have to backup the file, as altering Cplane often sees me unable to revert to what was ok before, one thing in Rhion scares me silly, Cplanes. My views never are same after reverting to what I was using.
Not sure what you mean with the Cplane method.
any chance of a visual ?
My item is landscape shape and I need it rotated 90deg CW.
Thanks Wim,
Understood, make the Y axis X, then it will be 90 deg to before.
and many thanks for the video, works every time to see it being done.
If I pause it to see the command being used the command vanishes. seeing t or c I wanted to see what the text was and it took a few runs at it, wish it just froze as most vids do.

TiltView, wow thats even simpler, it works.
activate detail then use command.
Tiltview It is the bane of my life. I have to use it all the time as the orientation of right and left views are incorrect relative to the top view for mechanical layouts and I have keep rotating them 90°.
Glad to help
I do the side elevation view relative to the plan view rather than the front view and as such the side view is in the wrong orientation and has to be turned through 90° RHS Holder.PDF (84.6 KB)
I could add to the discussion about layouts, but it seems to be heading in to detail. Watch the video of Autodesk Fusion drafting on how easy it should be for organizing detail views on a drawing sheet. Knowledge of where you are taking subsequent views from a master being key. I used to use a product called Powershape which Autodesk bought, this looks very much like that initial work
