I’m trying to import an AutoCAD file in Rhino, but while the layers DO appear, there’s simply nothing visible, even though all the layers are tagged as visible. For a brief moment I thought that maybe the imported file just was super tiny and had to zoom in, but when I tried selecting everything (you know, with the mouse), nothing was selected. Any help please?
please post a file if possible.
please post the AutoCad File you want to import as well.
If you created the AutoCad File, you can also create a dummy minimal version that shows the error.
I don’t know how to do any of those thngs. Or what exactly you mean by “post a file”. Post it where? And what’s a “dummy minimal version”?
my human written answers:

you can just drag and drop a file here in the edit window. post it / share it / upload it.
2
if you do not want to share sensitive data or if you have a huge file that can not be uploaded - draw some useless minimal (“dummy”) version of rectangles zickzacks etc… just some few objects that show the same problem as your original data.

Let’s give it a shot… OK, I didn’t make the AutoCAD file. Here it is.
Synthesi II_plot.dwg (558.2 KB)
And this is the Rhino file after the import attempt.
plot import attempt.3dm (1.9 MB)
Amazing indeed. May I ask what exactly (more or less) did you type into ChatGPT to get it to produce those answers?
my prompts:
_zoom _Extents
will show the imported data:
but be careful - the data is far from origin - this might cause problems.
it is recommended to work closer to the origin.
the lower left of the data is
x = 617972.55
y = 385199.60
hope this helps - kind regards -tom
And now I feel like an idiot. Thanks! I thought something had gone catastrophically wrong again.
