I am looking for a solution to shorten my initial workflow getting started on a project. We often times get .rvt models from the Architect and currently have to use Revit to export into ASCII solids through a 3d .dwg, then opening the .dwg in Rhino to use the 3D geometry. However, this process requires us to use Revit to pass through and output the .dwg, when all we need from the .rvt file is the 3D geometry. Is there a plugin or the possibility to create a custom plugin to import the .rvt file into Rhino and get the stripped down 3D geometry. We don’t use Revit for anything in our construction process so we don’t own a license, and each time we go to export a file, it must “update the model” to the newest version of whatever Revit trial we are using and this just takes too long to be efficient for us.
Is there a resource to go to in order to have custom plugins developed?
I have tried VisualARQ but it doesnt do what we want and still requires the Revit file to be exported as a .ifc in order to be imported by Rhino.
