No worries, Rhino 5 and 6 are completely separate installs. Your Rhino 5 will continue to work no problem.
Nice! A fast and accurate answer. This is why I use and love Rhino.
OK, I downloaded the very latest version of Rhino 6 and ran the installer. Is this the correct Install Folder āRhino BETAā? Seems like a glitch.
OK. Hereās the fix. Go to Programs and un-install the prior BETA of Rhino 6.
When I run the installer again, it will NOW create a new folder āProgram Files\Rhino 6ā
I hope that helps.
If I understand correctly Brianās licensing clarification, I can use v.6 upgrade for previous v.5 upgrade licence, canāt I. I mean I donāt need full v.6 licence because I currently have v.5 upgrade of v.4 and validating v.6 install, Iāll be asked to enter v.5 upgrade key and subsequently full v.4 licence key.
Best
Randy
I started with a V4 eductational license, then a regular V5 upgrade license, and now have a V6 upgrade license. I donāt recall having to enter V4 license info when adding the V6 upgrade license.
Hello,
If Iām running v5 now with critical plugins and upgrade to v6 I can run v5 and v6 on the same PC as long as Iām not running them simultaneously without having to buy another full license? When I move to new hardware will I be able to move v5 and v6 to the new hardware and keep v5 with VSR / TS, etc?
Disclaimer: Iām not associated with McNeel but I asked the same questions several weeks ago.
If you have a V5 license and upgrade to V6 you can run both V5 and V6 on the same PC, and can run them simultaneously on the same PC if desired (similar to you can have multiple instances of V5 or V6 open simultaneously on the same PC).
No problem moving V6. To move V5 you will need to contact McNeel support, and may need to install the Zoo. Iām not sure the Zoo will be needed if you only have one PC but it will be needed if you want to run Rhino on multiple PCs but not simultaneously.
Hello,
@davidcockey, thanks for the info. Iām on the fence whether or not I should go to v6 or add a different tool to the box. I think it will depend in part on how convoluted the licensing restrictions end up.
Is there any rebates for going from mac Rhino V5 to win V6?
or is that even possible?
Yes, you can buy the upgrade now (before 15 May) and take advantage of the reduced-price introductory offerā¦
Is there a timeframe for how long new V5 licences will continue to be available to purchase?
Cool! Thanks!
So I can keep V5 with T-Splines and upgrade to V6 and run them both on my current Windows box. I am just wondering if it is worth taking advantage of the upgrade offer.
I am primarily a Rhino for Mac user but want to keep V5 because of T-Splines. Now that Grasshopper is on the Mac version I do not rally need Win Rhino for that,

Well your Rhino V6 license will also run Mac Rhino V6 when it comes out - as well as the Mac V6 WIP which should happen soonerā¦
That is good to know, so what about my V5 Mac license?
For me running Mac V6 is probably more important, since I am now solo, LOL.
So, I imagine if you are running both Windows and Mac Rhino V5, that you actually have two licenses. In the future, you may only need one of the two⦠(this may be a pretty common situation)
You can use either license as an upgrade path to V6 and run Rhino for Windows V6 now, plus Mac Rhino V6 when it comes out. You could also choose to upgrade both and try to sell the other license later if you donāt need it. In any case, even if you buy the upgrade(s) now, you donāt actually have to install it(them) until you need/want.
Hello,
[REQUEST] Rhino v5 SR15 with Zoo Cloud support. It would be beneficial for everyoneā¦
Thanks!
Thank you @Helvetosaur / Mitch, I actually donāt have my Windows box set up and It may be a while as I may be moving again in 6 months.
I will purchase today, thanks again,
