Holomark2_R6

Fine! I hope you all are really happy with yourselves.

The illustrious Holomark2 CPU test demonstrated that my 2600k is only have half as fast as what’s out there for normal non-rendering stuff, which is largely single core.

I ordered a Ryzen 3900x, A MSI X570 Ace, and 32GB of 3200 Corsair memory. I will have to up the memory someday when I can afford it. I just hope that my old and I do mean old HX1050 power supply has a little juice left.

Hi guys, here’s my turn.
Sadly the Booleans, crucial task in my workflow, performed worse than on my 4yo i7-6700K backup rig.

Below the results with AA.

Note that the booleanstrst also includes the contour trst that is refreshing between each intersection, and some confogurations suffer from that. And I have never figured out why.
I first noticed this on a mac pro with dual xeons running windows 7 in 2011.

Andrea,

Is it possible that you aren’t getting the heat out of the case. The RTX 2080 Supers are all side fanned, meaning that they will warm the air the the processor uses if it’s allowed to linger. The 3900x has a TDP of 10 Watts higher than your old processor.

Perhaps adding another case fan or changing the fan speed might help the score.

It’s also interesting that your Boolean score varied. If a second test was worse, it would seem that it might be a cooling issue.

It might be interesting to do a test with the side/cover of the computer is opened, if that were safely and practically possible.

(My 3900x parts are almost all here.)

This is my AMD 3900x.

New machine for modeling and rendering.

I have practically the same config has you and i don’t know why the GTX 1080 / 2070 gets pretty close results compared to high end RTX 2080 ti?
Also, i do not understand why my scores on GPU_19 / 20 / 21 have low results.

Some one with another advertise / workaround?
Cheers

Finally got the new machine set up!

The IT company in charge of setup originally connected one cable to the GPU and one to the Intel built in card, so I wasn’t getting the good results…

Got everything connected properly, and phew, what a difference that made!

Nice!
I wonder why that affected the meshing of the mini… chech the cpu03 score.

No idea - all I did was check if new drivers were available, then swap the cables around. Rhino was only using the Intel UHD Graphics for the first go round. I’m happy though.

not work for me. windows doesnt see it as exe file no either from rhino /options /plugin /install

Sorry. I am not making this as a contest to see u is the winner here in holomark2, but how can you score like that with inferior specs as my machine?

Are you guys using GPU Studio Driver or Gaming?

The studio drivers won’t bring you more performance. with studio drivers you just don’t get harassed with updates that are only relevant to gamers. I sure would use them.

I don’t know if anyone else found this, but switching to studio drivers actually made my experience worse to the point I’ve switched my machines back.
I use a lot of other programs other than just Rhino by the way.

I’m using the Studio drivers. Other than that, I honestly can’t say why it’s better. Getting into the fine details of computer hardware is outside my expertise, unfortunately. Maybe a newer Rhino SR? Otherwise, looking at your specs, I’d assume your machine should score higher…

I have an nvidia card at home, there I have the studio drivers installed. Nothing to complain but I don’t use rhino there much often. My workstation has AMD cards.
I recently build a workstation for a friend, that has a RTX-2070-Super inside, also with studio drivers. He hasn’t complained jet.
