Having problem with the new update

Hi, my name is Mariah and I am new here. I have been using Rhino for more than 2 years now, the thing is recently I have downloaded Rhino 6.13 but it is not running in my laptop. Is everyone having the same problem or it is just me?

Welcome @mariah190282
There’s an Evaluation version here you might try:
https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino-for-windows/6/evaluation

6.13 is quite old.
The current shipping release is 6.19, which is 6 months newer.

Wow! really??, I should must try that, thanks for the info, by the way are there some extra fuctions? or it is just the same except some new graphics works?.

Is it for real?, I am really surprised and yet frustrated as if that version does not run how come 6.19 will work. Any advice how to deal with this?

Rhino 5 or 6.?

Rhino Service Releases fix bugs. They do not add features.
Version updates add new features.

Independent of Rhino development, tech support is seeing a lot of display driver problems. We think it’s because of Windows updates that then in turn require display adapter driver updates.

Sometimes the problems are so bad Rhino won’t start.

  • Black viewports
  • Objects not displaying when the display mode is configured correctly
  • Viewport not updating leaving “ghosted” images
  • etc

Use the Windows Device Manager to check the date of your drivers, under the right-click Properties menu for each adapter. You may have two. If you’re having display problems and your drivers are more than a couple months old, updating is a good idea.

I would Not update if you’re not experiencing any problems.

The tools that claim to check for driver updates are very unreliable.
It’s better to manually go look yourself:

I am using the version 6.13 not 5 actually.

Hi john, thanks a lot for your precious time in commenting on my post. To inform you I would like to say I did check the device driver and looked for update and my windows 10 did not find any update. The thing is that I just heard that there is a version of 6.19 out there, I tried it just now but it wont start, what should I do now ?

Start Rhino is Safemode.
This is a troubleshooting tool that blocks loading OpenGL and plug-ins.
Does Rhino start is Safemode?

Yes John it does start in the safe mode, I just tried it out. How can I make it start in the normal mode?

Don’t know yet.
What that tells me is you either have bad display drivers or a bad plug-in.

In Windows Device manager, please take screenshots of the Drivers tab (under right-click Properties), for your display adapters; both if you have two.

I actually dont know how to take a screen shot on pc, but I can tell you that it seems fine to me.Under display adapter both amd and intel graphics are there and they are working just fine.

To Take a Screenshot of Only One Window

Click on the title bar of the window that you want to capture. Press “Alt + PrtScn”. A screenshot of your currently active window will be copied to the clipboard. Paste it into your reply.

I have pressed alt and print scan but nothing happened, I guess it will need a software to do that, dont you think?

Alt+PrtScn places the image on the Windows Clipboard.
Then go into your email where you are composing your reply, and press Ctrl+V to Paste the Clipboard contents into the reply.

Do this for Both display adapters.
