Rhino 6.3 update problem

Hello Everyone,

I have a Rhino 6 Student license and it seems like it doesn’t want to update to version 6.3.18090. My current version is 6.13.19046. Auto update enabled, Service Release Candidate enabled, I tried to reinstall Rhino or repair installation. It only shows Rhino is up to date… My main issue is that the software is slow and very often crushes, so I can not work.

PC parameters are just fine :
CPU i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz
RAM 16GB
Nvidia Geforce GTX 960m

Could anybody help please?

Thanks,

Katarina

That would be a downgrade. 6.13.19046 is newer than 6.3.18090 (by over 300 days).

Did you mean to say that you currently have 6.3 and want to upgrade to 6.13?

Well, looks like I completely misunderstood this update thing… I do have the update for 6.13 version but I thought I need the 6.3, I just found it in another discussion here. However, then I don’t understand the crashes… Is it then my laptop?.. I’m using Rhino for interior architecture…

Are you sending the crash reports in? If so, do you also add the same e-mail address you use here on Discourse to send along with those?

Anyway, if you are currently getting crashes with the latest RC you may want to post the results of the Rhino command _SystemInfo and a description of what you are doing when you experience crashes. That’ll help us narrow down the problem and come up with a solution.

Most crash cases I’ve seen were due to old video drivers; once updated with latest ones, no more crashes.

@KatarinaM

Did a driver update fix your crashing?
If so, do you have the SystemInfo details from BEFORE the update and AFTER the update?

We need those to try to improve Rhino’s driver detection tools.

Hello,

Unfortunately I don’t have Systeminfo details before, only after. The only thing what has changed there is the Nvidia version. I had to download it directly from their web, because Win 10 didn’t seem to upgrade it itself. However, another thing is my WIN 10 update failures, which I guess might cause problem to Rhino as well. For now everything works good. Before the Rhino was crashing mostly, when I was applying textures 4k and higher or when I was working with meshes and proxies.
