working on a section drawing and i did a lot of custom scaled hatches but when i go to layout, try to export to .ai or even just explode within the program, the hatches scale up massively to an unusable degree. i’ve tried looking at other forum posts on this website and couldn’t find any solutions
Hi Andy -
You should turn off Enable hatch scaling to see the same in a layout as you do in a modeling view.
When you do that, it looks like you should put the scaling of those hatches to something closer to 10 than the 100 that you have set it to. You might have to play a bit with individual hatches.

Hi Wim,
I have hatch patterns that will not fit to the geometry in model space unless I enable hatch scaling. Once I am in Layout Space all the hatches are blown up out of proportion. If I disable hatch scaling then I cannot reduce the scale past 0.002 which is not enough of a reduction for the patterns in model space.
Can you explain or send me information links on how the scaling of custom hatch patterns can be tweaked in the creation of hatch patterns or modification.
The goal for me is to have the model space hatching be the same as the hatching in the layout space.
Is there a way that this can be done so you don’t have to use enable hatch scaling? or can you enable hatch scaling in model space so the pattern can be reduced enough for application and then have disabled hatch scaling once you are in layout space?
One tedious work around is to explode the scale enabled hatch and then join and group as linework to preserve it in layout space. But I expect better from RHNIO! let’s find a solution!
That’s ambiguous - look the same or have the same distance between lines?
To have them look the same, you need to uncheck Enable hatch scaling; to have the same distance, that option needs to be enabled.
Can you post a simple file that shows the issue you are trying to solve?
