Feature Request Layer Panel GUI

I have a very basic feature request for the Layer Panel. I have found it quite annoying that there is no icon for the layers that are nor current. It would be a great help if there was some indication of the area that is clicked for the layer to become current. I find that I often inadvertently make a layer current when I am just trying to select it. Just a pair of vertical lines or a box surround the area where the current layer tick mark appears would be a great help.

You can drag the column header “Current” away from areas where you click often, or right-click on the header and hide it altogether. In that case, you can make a layer current by double-clicking on the layer name; a third click will allow you to edit the name of the layer.
