Elements / furniture representation

Hello,
I have came across a problem: there is a problem with proper representation of elements and furnitures at the layouts, like this:

I have several elements built as external block representations and inserted as “embedded and linked” blocks, just for workflow reason. For the both representation, 2D and 3D, I have separate files. At the model space they seem to be perfect blocks, as well as plan and perspective view:

What can I do with this? I would like to keep the workflow, I mean I don’t want to embed the blocks…

Hi @jerry.bakowski,

I understand there is a display bug in the first image, but I can’t see it. Can you show me where is the issue and what is the expected output?

Thanks,

Enric

Hello Enric,
At layouts I can see a representation of 3D blocks, like this:

What I expect to see is like this (2D blocks):

The pictures above were taken at the model space.

Hi @jerry.bakowski,

If you embed the blocks, the issue is fixed?

In theory “Linked and embed” and “Embed” should work identically.

Can you send me a simplified 3DM model with one of those blocks where I can see the issue?

Enric

Hello Enric,
I sent the model, though I have found the solution. Now it works fine but I think it could be improved, anyway, in a more automatic way. The problem was the detail had been locked, so there were no visible changes in a furniture representation.
Despite a display mode, the model was seen as “from above”, without taking into account 2D representation, even if the plan was set with cut plane on (so, there should be 2D blocks visible). When I unlocked the detail and set “plan view to a viewport” it worked fine - except the scale went wrong, the detail got misplaced and so on…

Hi @jerry.bakowski,

We haven’t received any emails. Where did you send the email?

I understand that you had a detail locked, so Rhino doesn’t allow us to change the viewport settings (view direction, zoom extents, etc). If there were no 2D representation, then probably the view direction was not perfectly vertical, or something like that.

When I receive the file I’ll take a look.

Thanks,

Enric

Enric,
I have sent files to the asuni@asuni.com
