I’m using displacement textures on sub object surfaces of these sculptural forms as shown here.
The end goal is 3D printing after extracting the render mesh.
In the close up images you can see that the displacement “bleeds” over the edges of the sub-objects resulting in these distortions. Is there a way to avoid this?
What I do is apply the texture only to the surface (which I convert into a mesh) of the area I’m interested in, leaving the rest in nurbs. After applying the texture, I trim the texture area by at least 0.5 mm from the edge of the part that needs to remain smooth. Then, I perform several ‘bridges’ between the texture and the surface edges, closing all the gaps.
