What’s the reason for having render activated on the custom preview component by default?

I think it is an additional option, so make it an option and not a default.

Also I don’t get why the custom preview still renders even though preview is actually turned off

Indeed, why curves aren’t rendered is a bit odd too:

Hi @DavidRutten, I might have missed something, but Grasshopper curves do not display in Rendered and Arctic mode when using a Custom Display, unless this is clustered: I see there are other topics related to this issue, but they are quite old and I was just wondering if this is the intended behaviour or a bug? Hi guys, I have noticed this a while ago and it didn’t bother me enough to post about it, but today…it was the drop that spilled the cup. For some reason, even when all components have their preview disabled in GH,and even when the “don’t draw any preview geometry” mode is selected, when I switch to Rendered mode in my viewport, I see GH’s geometry. This issue has pushed me into workarounds several times. The solution is to close the definition, but sometimes I don’t what to do that. So then…
