Is it possible to nest a curtain wall within an existing wall? I ask this because often creating a window with multiple mullions is not possible. For example, if I want a window 30’ x 5’ high with 10 different windows and a mullion between each 3" across, I can make this very quickly with the curtain wall. However, I cannot then place this curtain wall within an existing wall. If I try to make this as a fixed window, I have to create 10 leafs and then it is not a fixed size mullion.
I have attempted to therefore create an opening in a wall, and then place my curtain wall within it, but for some strange reason the mullions disappear. See the video below and the attached file. If this isn’t possible, it should be considered as an update because fixed windows are nowhere near as flexible as the curtain wall for long strip windows. If there is an improvement in my process I can do, please let me know.
@avatarlucas there is a parameter in the window object to add muntins to a glass. Perhaps that could help you to obtain the same result as in a curtain wall?
@avatarlucas@arcus we will consider adding the option to insert curtain walls in walls, and also provide the same glazing cells distribution available in curtain walls for the window object.
This problem happens due to the fact the window is trying to be inserted in the wall and in the curtain wall at the same time.
Another way to insert a curtain wall in a wall is to create the opening in the wall with the vaSubtractSolids command, instead of inserting an invisible opening/window.
