Creating notes for an object ..how?

Perhaps it makes sense to simply add a dialogue which makes it easier for the user to “SetUserText” and “GetUserText” on Rhino objects? Maybe expose this functionality via the existing “Properties” panel.

Yes, I was going to suggest Set/Get UserText to Steve in this instance, but it’s a clunky interface and not good for multiline text. So a dialog and a good text parser would be welcome.

I’m all for it but I’m afraid that making the feature easy to use will cause information to get lost when inexperienced users join objects (or otherwise edit objects) in the wrong order…

Naahhh, in that case you just need to join all the text strings together… in the wrong order… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi Dale,
I see from the tracking that this feature is still a wish for the future or am I missing something?
The ability to add some comments to objects is an useful tool for me.
Has this been solved some other way or just got forgotten?

I tried in to download it and use with Rhino v6 but I got this error:
# 404 Not Found
The requested resource could not be found.

That also throws a 404 for me.
@dale, do you still have the ObjectNotes.rvb laying around somewhere. It looks like it one of the attachments that got lost when Discourse moved our stuff to a different server.

Here’s a thing that might help - it should be compatible with Dale’s script as well. Download, un-block, and then drag and drop onto Rhino 6 or 7 for:

SetObjectNotes
AppendObjectNotes
DeleteObjectNotes
MatchObjectNotes
SelObjectNotes
ShowObjectNotes
ShowAllObjectNotes

As always, guaranteed somewhat tested.

Note there is a ton of overlap to say the least, with just using Rhino’s user text - so this has limited use, I would say, even if it ‘works’.
