Layer Notes?

Hi,

Is there any way to add a ‘note’ to a layer?
For example, I have a layer named ‘Coating’ and I want to have a note that can be opened by right clicking on layer > notes, or display the notes menu (which should show in some manner display what note belongs to what).

This note would say something like: “exterior coating fire retardant cladding made of corrugated sheet metal Zincalum pre-painted black”

Surely naming my layer like that would be a mess. Is this possible to do in Rhino 6? If not, can someone edit this to be a “WISH” ? Thanks.

The best I can think of now is to use the Hyperlink command.
It doesn’t work on layers but it does on objects.
You could put those details on a Web page and link objects to that sort of information.

That’s what you said 5 years ago.

Thanks for the suggestion though John, unfortunately that’s really an overdo. I think I might be better off just typing in the Notes command and saying for example Layer Coating: exterior coating fire retardant cladding made of corrugated sheet metal Zincalum pre-painted black

Hello - Document User text may help here - as well as object user text on the objects themselves.

I believe layers support UserText if you are ok with doing a little scripting.

Thank you guys, but none of these really suit my needs.
I think, for now, I will just name my layers as descriptively as possible. Can we add this as a wish for Rhino 7 or should I create a new post? Thanks.

Added as RH-60908.
