Can't export generic objects from Revit into IFC

Hi everyone, when I try to export a generic model (created in Rhino) from Revit the object is not visible in IFC. The strange thing is it worked before. Now I always get an empty IFC. Could there be any reason why it suddenly stopped working? Thanks

Hi Filip,

Can you provide more details about your environment? Revit version being key. A small example is always helpful. Thanks

I haven’t seen any similar reports.

Hi Japhy,

my Revit version is 2024.2
Sadly I can’t upload our project Revit file. I attached only the mentioned object in a separate file (.rvt and .3dm). I’m not sure if it’s any help because when I tried to export it from this separate file it actually worked. I only have problems exporting it from our project Revit file.

Object_2024.2.rvt (14.9 MB)
.

Project.3dm (702.7 KB)

Hi Filip, That file works here as well. I don’t have any immediate ideas on why that would fail in a more complex project environment.

Hi Japhy, yes, it’s strange. I tried to send it to Revit with Speckle as well but with the same result.

I found a way with saving the object in DWG, opening it in Civil and exporting it into IFC. Then import it in Revit and bind it and ungroup. After that it’s exportable from Revit.
