Bugs: Selection Highlight, Shade-highlight, Preview in Raytraced

make a cube go to right, front or top view, set to raytraced, select object → selection highlight is stretched.

the initial preview before rendering is stretched either by the same amount at the highlight i would say. best to observe on a more complex model which needs longer to initate, a cube is gone pretty fast.

also turning on Shade-highlight selected surfaces and polysurfaces does not show at all in raytraced

that bug are in there for quite a while, @nathanletwory do you know anything or could check? i am not sure if it is rendering related.

edit: my bad, sort of

I have never seen either of these issues.

Here a recording with a huge amount of objects to ensure switching to Raytraced takes a moment.

This I can reproduce: RH-84425 Shade-highlight selected doesn’t work with Raytraced

I like to imagine I do

Selection and preview (non-raytraced) drawing isn’t done by Raytraced, but by the Rhino display pipeline.

hm, sorry, that was my fault, i set the view scaling to 2:1.

BUT there still seems to be some bug in there, because when i set it to this the symptoms described do happen seen here on the image, but the actual image does not render 2:1 only the selection (and preview) get estranged sort of to 2:1. i think i meddled with this quite a long time ago, gave up and left it there, since renderings where always ok i did not think about it anymore.

Can’t say I knew about view scaling. I don’t know how this can be used for anything useful.

I’ll have to check if I have even access to that information when Raytraced is made active.

Addendum: logged as RH-84428 Raytraced: View scaling not taken into account
Addendum 2: Fixed ( Apply view scale to frustum. · mcneel/RhinoCycles@eb27bd3 · GitHub ). Should be available whenever internal 8.14 becomes SRC.

for rendered it could be useful to create special projections (classic/historic) not sure what else it would be used for there, for the other modes like wire or shaded from what i have gathered (i dont personally use that) it is mostly used to stretch wonky control points, curves, surfaces for better continuity, fairing identification
