Bug: Unable to assign a new shortcut?

Hi

I’m trying to assign a new shortcut but it won’t work. I can create a shortcut but once I close the shortcut window it disappears. The shortcut doesn’t respond and doesn’t appear when I reopen the shortcut window?
If anyone can reproduce the problem, thanks for your help!

Yes, this is a known bug currently, unfortunately.

The appearance of the keyboard window just changed with the last update? Before it has more possibilities to assign shortcut with « predefined saved combinations »… It was a long list of empty combinations that we could fill in. Today, the list has been reduced and it is impossible to create other combinations…

So is it possible to reinstall an earlier version of Rhino 8?

Hi Pipouille -

This is something that is under construction and I don’t know which version you are using right now.

When I go to the Keyboard Shortcuts, that looks like this:

When I then hit the New button, a dialog pops up and I can enter a key-combination, e.g.

I can then add a macro to that combination.

Hi Wim,

As written in the SystemInfo I think that’s the version “Rhino 8 SR12 2024-9-24 (Rhino 8, 8.12.24268.13002)”

I have the same dialog box. I can add a combination and a macro.

But as explained above, once I close the ‘Keybord Shortcuts’ and try the shortcut nothing works. And if I go back to the ‘Keybord Shortcuts’ the combination has disappeared, it’s not listed anymore.

hi @Pipouille I can reproduce that in 8.12
It does work in the current in house build, I’m not sure if this fix can be backported to the 8.12 SRC, I will ask

works! thanks for the update

Nice, thank you all!

Hello everyone,

I dare continuing this thread as I still cannot add shortcuts and am in 8.12.24282.07002…

I’d like to use F2 but when hit F2 while on the ‘Shortcut Editor’ window, it basically runs the _CommandHistory in the back.

I kinda liked the suuuper long list with every combinations
Any hint ?

Many thanks for your support!

Best,
Aurèle

PS: also, I randomly noticed that if I press cmd+0 while on the ‘Option’ window, it runs the command: '_ToggleLeftSidebar , and not the shortcut I set myself. The shortcut though works as expected in Rhino.

@Aurelius both those issues should be fixed in Rhino 8.13. If you change Updates in General to Service Release Candidate, you can download the latest SRC of Rhino 8, which is currently 8.13

Hey Gijs, thank you very much!

The cmd+0 thingy is still acting funny though - but I don’t mind that

Thanks again and best,
Aurèle

I don’t see that here in 8.13/8.14. Do you see it even after you assigned a custom shortcut to it?

With 8.13.24282.10002, indeed is cmd+0 is assigned to _Tan but still triggers _ToggleLeftSidebar. It still works fine when in Rhino.

This shortcut was actually already assigned before I changed to 8.12.
