Bug: Shade won't hide the cursor tooltip and point objects

There is a bug with ! _Shade command that will not let it hide the cursor tooltip coordinates when the “Point” option is turned on from the following menu:
Rhino Options > Modeling Aids > Cursor ToolTips > Point

I also add a wish to be able to hide the point objects while in ! _Shade, because they mess with the intention of this particular command to show or hide select object types. While “Shade” can hide any other object type, points are the only object that remain visible and disrupt the view. This “bug” or lack of consistent functionality is also shown in the screen-shot above.

Hi Bobi - would it work for you if Shade were simply a volatile version of the Shaded (or some other user designated mode) viewport, and respond to changes in the Display panel? That’s how I think it ought to work…

-Pascal

Not sure if I understand what’s “volatile version”, but the main advantage of “Shade” is that once I activate it, I can quickly switch to several other viewport modes that I have assigned to the customizable buttons of my mouse (Logitech G502).
I’m aware that I can make multiple extra versions of my existing custom viewport modes that feature hidden curves, points, dimensions and everything else other than the NURBS geometry, but it would require extra icons that I try to avoid.

Hi Bobi - by volatile I just mean behaving as Shade does - as soon as you get back to work, the viewport mode reverts to whatever it was set for in the viewport. My gripe with this command is that it has some settings on the command line other than the mode I want it to show, so it can conflict with the mode. I find I just want it to use the specified mode 100%, and let me change what it shows via the Display panel as usual. I just don’t know if there are advantages for you an others to having those command line settings that are specific to the Shade command.
(I think this command is showing that it existed well before the display mode system was implemented and just needs to catch up and use the modes.)

-Pascal

Hi Pascal, I’m perfectly fine with using “Shade”, except that it lacks a Command line option to hide the points and control points.

Also, as I mentioned in my original post, there seems to be some bug with the mouse tooltip. Actually, two bugs:
a) Even if I move the mouse pointer off the viewport area, the tooptip with coordinates remains visible;
b) It makes the framerate really slow, probably because Rhino tries to constantly calculate the coordinates that should not be visible in the first place. Even with that setting turned off ( Rhino Options > Modeling Aids > Cursor ToolTips > Point), I noticed that “Shade” with all object types turned off performs noticeably worse than the same viewport modes with hidden objects from their respective menu settings located in Rhino options > View > Display modes.

If there is some hidden option for “Shade” to turn the points off from the Command line, I would be glad to test it out.

Hi Bobi - my question is this:
Would Shade be OK if it had no command line options other than which mode to use?
The current mode could be controlled from the Display panel as usual.

Hi Pascal, I think that the options provided in the Command line are nice to have, because sometimes I want to leave certain elements visible. The current implementation of “Shade” is good, except that the only missing option is to show/hide the control points.
