Shade vs shaded

is there a way to work with the viewport in shade mode? it seems it will only show the shade mode in a preview with the option to rotate but as soon as you click on the view port it goes back to the shaded mode.

hmm that’s a weird set of commands on that button:

I personally don’t ever use that one.

I’d recommend the one next to it:

but then you’d probably want to modify that particular display mode if you’re not seeing the style you want.

The Shade command is a holdover from V 1.0 !!.. before Rhino had a full time shaded mode… :grinning:

It was merely ahead ot its time. Like any right-thinking person I model in wireframe and use shade occasionally when I need to see the surfaces.

But hey, there was this beautiful always on software shade-mode!

Very slow on whole models, but for surface modelling (aka. Pulling points) I loved the quality. (Cull control points so good!!)

Unfortunately it got dropped with rhino 3, but I’m over it by now.
