Hello,
The way the gumball works seems to have changed. It was possible to relocate it and the scale handles by holding down ctrl and lmb dragging. Now it works by lmb double-clicking on the gumball. This interferes with picking rows of control points which also requires lmb double clicking on the control point net.

You can still do this by double click on the arrow.
Yes, and it will stay. Gumball is overloaded with functions and this was the best way to keep them all, and at the same time make the working of Ctrl more consistent.
Not a big fan of that… I understand the overload but double click feels exhausting for me. Also, double-clicking is a “stationary” action (in terms of moving the mouse) that takes some time, where the nature of relocating the gumball is to move it, drag it somewhere else.
This means that the gesture is split into two actions: stationary and movable.
This should be a very quick gesture, two steps make it slower and more tiring when used extensively.
I understand your concerns and they are certainly valid, but pls give it some time to get used to it, to see if is going to prove a real issue in practice. I found that I got used to it quickly and started double clicking in V7.
That is not going to happen with me, I’m an MMB Popup heavy user. But your suggestion gave me an idea to maybe try to finally utilize two thumb buttons on my mouse and set double-click to one of them.
I am not happy because single click has then delay with numerical input to move.
How about much cleaner solution. Left click means move and instantaneous numerical input and right click is to relocate gumball.
Why haven’t you considered right click on mouse (which came to my mind after 3 seconds when thinking how it could be done better)?
*for me personally that delay is unbearable. i cannot work like that when moving objects and every click means 0,35s delay, an absolute dealbreaker for me. i need to have instant response, there is nothing worse than have builtin delay when working. i can feel i would go mad after a week of work.
That’s less than the time it takes for my right hand to jump from the mouse to the numeric pad, so I don’t find it that terrible.
Though I agree right click seems the perfect solution indeed.
typically i click with right hand and simultaneosly press on number key with left hand. when sipping cocktail in my legt hand on the beach modelling palms i would not mind the delay
