Revert R8 gumball to R7 control key function

Hello -

Has anyone discovered or already requested a way to revert the Rhino 8 gumball control scheme from double-clicking to edit the gumball widget, back to holding the ‘ctrl’ key to edit the widget?

Cheers

@pascal
Any chance this can be an option to revert to the R7 gumball entirely in a subsequent release? Not a big fish by any means, but if it’s a possibility it would be really great.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hello- no, I would not expect that to happen.

hmm, too bad. oh well

If you do not have one already, you might want to get a 3 button mouse with extra buttons. My middlw mouse button executes a double left click.

I’m really mad about this new gumball, I can’t stand the new delay!!! Why!!! I can’t press alt and copy along z axis as quick as I was in R7, and now, I MUST press ctrl to extrude every single time!!! really guys???
At least give us the option to revert to the old gumball!!! that’s so annoying.

@moaz93armada I’m confused.

hold alt (option on mac) and drag a part by any arrow handle . it copies as fast as you can drag and release. keep holding alt and repeat for multiples.

also you know these are extrude dots yes? no control button required.

Give us an option pls :slight_smile: As for a pro user, it is annoying for me to duble click all the time. It is the only thing why my company will not move to R8. We would love but this gumball annoys us too much.

Get a good mouse and set one button to do double clicks

Yeaah, but this isn`t the best solution, I mean, its kind of one but I use gumball a lot, ~50% of my work is based on it. I have Enter, Esc, SetCPlane on my mouse. It would be enough to just turn off the double click on Gumball. One simple tick window in options :slight_smile:

Moving to R8 with current gumball is a little bit like waste of time and money (10 licenses).

Well, it’s probably not going to change, so looks like you may be stuck on V7 for the foreseeable future.

Yes that’s [one of the] best solution for the double click thing.
Over here I use a pen not a mouse [double click with a pen is not very comfortable] So assigning it to one of the physical buttons on a device [Wacom, 3D mouse, others…] solves that. But one has to get used to it.

My keyboard also has a double click key and so does my Spacenavigator…
