BlockEdit workflow: editing nested blocks by double-click

Hi @wim

in Rhino 8 I can no longer edit nested blocks by double-clicking when already inside a BlockEdit. Instead I get the message “BlockEdit already running”.

As far as I remember, this worked in Rhino 7, where double-clicking a nested block would directly enter the next block level, which was very convenient.

I know it is still possible to edit nested blocks via the BlockManager, but with many nested blocks it can be very difficult to find and select the correct block to edit. I keep running into this issue in daily work and it slows down the workflow.

Was this behavior intentionally changed, and would it be possible to adjust or re-enable this functionality?

Thanks and best regards

Hi Sven -

That behavior has never been possible in plain Rhino. It’s an often requested feature and the “Block Edit New” plug-in makes that available.

Thx — would be nice to see this in a future version of Rhino.

Hi Sven -

I’ve added this thread to RH-30230 BlockEdit - double click within the command to edit sub block
