I am currently running Rhino 5 on a Dell M3800 laptop with Windows 8.1 operating system. Every time rhino does an autosave it seems to lock up for at least a minute which gets really irritating. Anyone know a solution for this?
Thanks,
Micah

What is your graphics card and river version?
Maybe a screenshot of Options - View - OpenGL would be easiest.
Here’s my Open GL settings
OK. That’s what I was guessing.
Here’s a link to a support page that will help you do three things:
1 - Download and install a newer driver
2 - Set the Workstation App - Dynamic Streaming option
3 - Set the Power management option.

Good luck
How much memory is installed and how is in use when Rhino is running? How much space on the hard drive?
How big is your Rhino file? Large files need some time to save. I don’t measured it, but my impression is that 1GB files are saved slow here too.
I upgraded the drivers and settings and it is still slow. The laptop has 16 gigs of memory and the hard drive has 150 gigs free out of 500 gigs. The file is 110mb. Could the size be causing it?
Autosaving for a minute is way too long for a 100mb file saving locally. Any chance your autosave folder is on a network? Check your location in Options > Files.
Hi there,
Is it normal for Rhino to take 10 seconds on saving/autosaving a 100MB file? The computer has 16GB of ram and an SSD with tons of free space? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ben
Running windows 10, latest rhino update and grasshopper.
