Argoflex Camera

This is the project that I’ve been nagging the forum about for the last several months.

It’s finished and I wanted to share it.

I also want to thank all the members who’ve been so generous with thier time and expertise!

I’ll be back…

Very nice. It probably looks better than the actual camera did when new.

Yes indeed, and the original is still in pieces. There’s a program called ‘blender’ that I’m interested in using to create a more realistic/worn version but there’s only so many hours in a day.

Thanks for your comment - I appreciate it.:grinning:

NICE WORK! You make me jealous.

Nice work!
What renderer did you use?

In Rhino already a lot can be done with a bumpmap:

Or subtle texture mapping:

worn.3dm (7.2 MB)

I did that with keyshot. I dont know much about it, that’s pretty much out of the box results.

James, your perseverance has paid off … excellent!

All I can say is amazing, wonderful work and plenty of patience.

All my best … Danny

I’d be interested in seenig your camera get Cycles do-over in Rhino WIP using my Grasshopper shader components plug-in. That should make it possible to create custom materials right in Rhino. The Raytraced mode is the very same Cycles renderer as you know from Blender, but with some additions that don’t exist in Blender Cycles

If you have access to Rhino WIP for Window yourself, then you could do it yourself as well, if you are willing to appreciate the YMMV-factor of the very much pre-alpha GH plug-in  But if you don’t have that, I’d be willing to give it a go myself. Let me know!

I’m learning on the Mac version. At this point I’m almost solely focused on model creation. I want to be employable/freelancing by next year. What is the YMMV factor?

I am interested in Grasshopper and it’s now applicable to the Mac version, but again, there’s only so much I can learn in a day.

Your Mileage May Vary. Since the plug-in I mentioned is very early pre-alpha it has some rough edges. Or rather, it is mostly rough edges  But since you’re on Mac this plug-in won’t be of much use yet, since it is for the Raytraced mode in Rhino WIP for Windows.

Beautiful work.
I followed your discussions, I don’t have a mac but it was informative to read them.
Thanks for sharing.

Very nicely done James! I’ve heard great things about Key shot, but your modeling is fantastic.

Hi James ( @JKayten )

You should look into Keyshots own material graph and the possibilities it has in worn materials - take a look at this post from their forum: https://www.keyshot.com/forum/index.php?topic=12571.0

great work James!!!
