Maybe you can use another font:

FeatureCam used to give away a set of single stroke fonts called 'Machine Tool…" they had Sans Serif, Gothic, and a few others. I have these on some hard drive, but they used to be available right off their site. Seems they changed things around and now they are called ‘Delcam’ and there is a little Autodesk logo on the webpage.
