Wish - Distribute SubD Edges

Would love it if the distribute command worked with SubD edges and edge loops. Would make getting even distribution of loops a much quicker process.

Fantastic. Thanks!

Yep, that would be very useful!

This post is a bit dated but the need is still relevant. Is there an ability to do this coming to rhino? I have so many timely work arounds for this and would love to see a tool automate even edge distribution.

Hi @Matt34 ,

I’ve bumped the request for the developer, hopefully it’s something they can look into soon.

Until we get a proper tool, delete bad topo and replace with bridge which gives even topo-

It’s a bit of a faff, but it works.

This is one method I use quite often. On this method, when working with organic surfaces, while it does space evenly flat, it does not always do a great job with its smoothness variable. The edge spacing can get crazy when increasing the smoothness. So your planer example works fine but on complex geo… not great. I’m hoping for a tool that can look at its selected faces and edges and re-compute more even spacing. Kinda like the rebuild curve or surface tools on the nurbs side. Thanks for hearing me out and greatly look forward to more SubD tools in Rhino.

agreed, it’s a workaround at best until a proper tool comes along.

I wrote a similar topic :

I think it s important to have several options (see topic) … it s more then distribute / equal space that s why the working title is “beautify edge loop”
