Something I have not worked out how to do yet, that seems like it should work. I have many different linked blocks that all look very similar. So I go to the block Manager, select the block I want and press the Select button. It selects all the instances of it.
Then to edit the block I have to first close the BlockManager and enter BlockEdit. But then it deselects all the blocks (which are all instances of the same block) and asks me to select a block, which is not so easy.
Is there a way to edit a block from the Block Manager? Shouldn’t there be an Edit button either in the Block Manager or the Block Properties window!?
Also as long as I have selected instances of the same block, shouldn’t BlockEdit see that I have already selected basically only one block instead of deselecting everything?
Hello- currently there is no way to do that I’m afraid, and I do not see that capability in the V8 block manager either… V8 lets you edit the properties of block objects but I do not see that you can edit the geometry directly without entering BlockEdit in the usual way. I’ve had a similar idea recently.
Thing is, this block manager shows block definitions, not their scene instances. @wim argued that the problem is - which block instance should be opened in the viewport when you edit a definition?
How about this:
1 - Enter block edit mode simply for the first instance of that definition.
2 - or the next best.
3 - or, best option, add a block edit mode like in AutoCAD, where nothing else is visible (not even gray) but the block itself, with the block origin at scene origin.
