Wish: Add a secondary, true isolate

I would like to be able to isolate an object without seeing the locked objects (or objects assigned to locked layers) that often times make it impossible to actually see the isolated object. A “True isolate” tool would be welcome, especially if it could work in combination with the default “Isolate” tool to let the user take advantage of two subsequent isolate commands.

Currently, I use a secondary “Isolate” command that helps in certain cases to isolate an object from already isolated bunch of objects. However, neither of the isolate commands hides the locked objects…

Isolate selection:
_-Invert _-Hide _Pause "TempIsolate" _Enter

Unisolate selection:
! _-Show "TempIsolate"

I rarely use locked layers because of both what you mention here and the other thread you suggested.

The only time I use it is for temporarily making selections easier, but it could be made so much more powerful with just a few tweaks.

I’m also forced to either unlock or hide layers just to be able to see what I’m doing with an isolated object. Once I unisolate it again, sometimes I forget to lock or unhide the previously unlocked or hidden layers… :space_invader: This “bug” alone destroys my workflow, because the current implementation of the “Isolate” tool is actually “Isolate selected object(s) plus all locked objects plus all objects inside locked layers”.
