i was in the wip 8 today and i copied a gemstone into wip8 and rhino 7 and set the display on raytraced. i checked all the settings and they all are the same but in wip8 the image looks black vs the way it is suppose to look in rhino 7. any thoughts? here is a screenshot
Black like that typically indicates a display driver problem.
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and post the results.
Hopefully something obvious will stick out.
here is the systeminfo

Can you please in the Materials panel right-click the material and choose to save as file? Say yes to embedding files. Then please attach the resulting .rmtl file in your reply here.
_Diamond-a3427025-ae0f-4a6a-8767-798e311ca23b.rmtl (32.0 KB)
here it is
on a side note how do you delete one of those materials? i assumed right then delete but that wasnt an option
here is the 3dm
stone color.3dm (1.6 MB)
I think with enough time and pressure it will work out.
It appears the image texture in the environment slot is missing, this probably causes the blackness. Reassign that image to the environment slot, or remove it.
so here is the method im and using to render. im attaching a jpeg of the method and the stones. when i drag this 3dm file into wip8 and turn on raytraced everything turns black, but when i turn on rendered it looks right. i hope this explanation helps.
Stone and Metal for rendering.3dm (4.8 MB)
Did you try what I told you?
In Rhino WIP when you drag the rmtl into the materials tab you’ll get message that files are missing. The important file missing is the one used in the environment slot. You’ll find that the preview material renders black. Adding the image back into the environment slot (or setting the slider to 0) will turn the preview to no longer be black.
