Rhino8 WIP Cycles rendering "flat" or not rendering

Hello,

I have a problem with at least two latest builds, raytrace/cycles is not rendering as supposed. I got the error message below the viewport : " failed to load Cuda kernel from … (invalid kernel image)" , but the time counter keeps working

Hi @can.aysan
I’d start by updateing that driver - that’s almost 2 ½ years old. I that doesn’t do the trick, you might try the Repair option in the installer (Go to Windows Settings>Apps>Find Rhino in the list, the click Modify and choose Repair)

HTH, Jakob

PS Note that the Cycles kernel might take some time to compile the first time you run it - this is normal

Small clarification: this will happen only if you have an architecture that is newer than what precompiled kernels have been created for, or if you use OptiX. For such cases recompiles also may happen after driver update or Rhino update.

Thanks, driver update solved the problem. My machine has a fresh windows install, I never thought that the driver is outdated

Updates to Windows can mess up drivers, so after a Windows update it is good to reinstall drivers if you see unexpected behavior.
