I’m finding today that round windows in a block won’t cut a hole in a wall. rectancgular windows are working alright. Actually no, rectangular windows don’t work either.
Hi @djhg, has the window style a custom profile assigned? If the problem persists, please share a file so I can check it out.
The Window styles are rectangular and round. I have set the dimensions of the window manually (I think that’s what you mean by profile) but everything else is default.
When you create a window or a door style from a block, I recommend assigning a custom profile (created with the vaProfileFromCurve command), even if the profile is rectangular or round. Since the block is “static” (not parametric), the profile needs to be static too, and if you assign a default rectangular or round profile, you may get opening dimensions that don’t correspond to the size of the block for the door or the window.
Thanks. I don’t quite understand, but I follow that an opening destined for a block needs to be created from lines. Or recreated from lines if it wasn’t originally.
I feel sure I have successfully embedded windows with custom dimensions in the past. Perhaps this is new? I’ve never had a problem with the opening not matching its window or door.
In any case, I would prefer not to have to go through what seems the extra step of creating dimension-accurate linework before creating a window which might be destined for a block (which could be true of any window).

The steps are the same even when the profiles are rectangular or round.
In future versions, we could assign an “auto” option for the profile of blocks, so it’s automatically calculated with their bounding box. That would save you one step in this process, although the depending on the block shape, you may need to assign a custom profile anyway.
