Maybe the issue is a monolithic release package on long/short(er) cycles vs. Major releases with intermediates ‘expansion’ packs… Cash flow from Monolithic release schedules suck as does user experience…
I respect the need for an Urgent release for V8 due to the apple silicon disruption.as I accepted the situation of V8 to be less valuable for a windows user, and I started thinking about V9 how to make sure a realistic wishlist needs to be placed as soon as development starts. because I’m afraid of half baked (or unfinished) features becoming the norm with Rhino.
I prefer that McNell takes their time to do the great work
I’m quite annoied by those commerical companies (such as Autodesk, Adobe, etc…), they have the newer version every year (revit 2019, 2020, 2021, …) and their products are expensive, however, the comptability is a disaster.
Save as an older version of revit? not possible. Using old plugins? not possible.
So many daily needs have been blocked so that you can pay more to them.
Ha, reminds me of iphone design.
I don’t get the point of releasing iphone each year, especially now they can release two or three… And I don’t feel the change from their phone design. If they really want to upgrade the hardware yearly, then change the inside chips, don’t seduce people to change the phone each year.
Hi All,
Do we have any update on release of rhino 8?
Hi Asis -
This answer still stands:
-wim
Now that the beta is out, is there a rough date that McNeel is aiming for?
We need new licences in our office and are debating wether waiting for Rhino 8 is worth it to save the upgrade costs.
This has also been discussed intensively in another lengthy thread:
They are aiming to release Rhino 8 by the end of this year.
1 - do you need the licenses right now?
2 - how important the new V8 features for you?
I think Rhino V6 or V7 are still solid products that can be used for many years to come. until the cloud thing takes over and won’t be able to deal with desktop applications.
