What causes Rhino to open as "read-only" mode, and how can I stop it?

Sometimes when I use Ctrl + S to save, it doesn’t allow it, first something pops up that says I’m in “Read-Only” mode (even though I was able to work in the file earlier and save it as normal), then this pops up:

Rhino didn’t crash, and I don’t see any .rhl files. Important to note I am saving to Google Drive perhaps?

Here’s my SystemInfo:

Files open in read-only mode because they’re open in another instance of Rhino by you or someone else, or the file is otherwise locked.

What is the “G” drive?

G drive is the Google Drive Desktop, which I’m wondering if that’s the culprit because it syncs with my Google Drive. I have multiple instances of Rhino open, but different files. That shouldn’t cause conflicts, right?

No there should be no conflicts with other Rhinos with different files.

Well the most obvious thing is something to do with the Google Drive, yes, maybe files are being locked as they’re being synced. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed it myself though, even when I had a much crappier than today Internet upload speed.

I experience the same exact situation when i am saving directly to a server. When I am working locally Rhino 8 works as expected.

Hi -
What is the following advanced option set to?

Rhino.Options.FileSettings.WriteLocalTempFileWhenSaving

-wim

Hi Wim,

Thanks

Mine is the same
