Recently I’ve encountered a bug when saving a file I’ve created and have been working on for a while. After saving, I get a Pop-Up which alerts me that the file is now read only and has to be saved again to save any changes.
Most of the time this happened there was only one instance of rhino running, also I’ve been working in the same version. Any ideas why this might be happening?
Are you saving this to the cloud via dropbox, onedrive or something similar? Or is it on the local SSD? I had some similar issues some years ago when we started using Dropbox. I understood it as Rhino saw the file as locked just after saving, since it hadn’t been released by the cloud synchronization software (or something like that) I think McNeel added a small magic (a delay to compensate for this maybe), but I am not sure. We have not had any issues with using Dropbox since then. So a bit more information on your process, file size, services etc would probably help in finding the solution for you.
I’m saving directly to Onedrive, and the last time I saved I wasn’t connected to the internet.
The file is therefore saved locally and was uploaded to the cloud when I reconnected.
Can you try to disconnect the pc (unplug or turn off wifi on the computer) and save again?
Just to see if you can recreate the situation? If this happened when you saved a file you had saved before, then just try to do that. But if you saved a new file then you might need to import the geometry into a new file and then save that file as a new test file.

hi @wim , it seems to happen after a while working on a file. A few SR’s ago it started happening and has continued, its quite random tbh. I save to my laptop locally, which is backed up with our Microsoft business package which saves to OneDrive automatically. Running Windows 11-system info below-
