Voronoi roof pattern

Alright, so the predicament is that I’ve got this cool Voronoi pattern in 3D, and I want to give the curve thickness, if possible, like a specific cross-section shape. The attached file is the Grasshopper file, but you will need to create your own curve for the general boundary and the attractor curve, where the lines are most dense. I used plugins like Kangaroo2, but I believe I only used it for the “Solver” aspect. Please, I need help.

What material are you planning on building the roof structure from?

You need to either post a Rhino file or internalize your geometry.

As @Joseph_Oster mentioned above, you need to internalise the input of your Grasshopper definition or share a Rhino file with the relevant geometry.

yeah that was my fault, I forgot to do that. I’m pulling up rhino right now.

What are you trying to do with Kangaroo?

I wanted to make the rigid Voronoi cell pattern more organic and relaxed and I was seeing if I could accomplish that through Kangaroo

Looks like that creates just a mess.

I would suggest to tweak the voronoi pattern in 2D and make sure you eliminate short segments.

I assume you will have some kind of cylindrical nodes to connect the beams.

Far from the origin and skewed from the XY plane? Is that as difficult as you can make it :question:

Got other things to do and am not a Kangaroo guy anyway.

I don’t think Kangaroo is needed to place beams and joints

Yeah, I was working on other things on the c-plane. Very new to all this stuff, but skewed? If you’re referring to the surface, it’s curved and that’s part of the feature.

I deleted all your stuff except the surface and created some beams.

All the beams are vertically oriented.

cool! I fixed the lengths, baked the kangaroo solver, and piped all the curves. So I still got that curved effect I wanted for the roof. Thanks though! I’ll definetly be using your file as well.

Glulam with a circular cross section… ?

It’s a placeholder, and now I know I can pipe it I should be able to do the cross sectional shapes pretty easily at some later time. Thanks for the help anyways!
