Creating Organic Voronoi Pattern for Polysurface

I created this grasshopper file, for a Voronoi pattern however one issue I found was I can’t generate a pattern that is curves causing weird intersections when I bake and multi-pipe the Voronoi cell structure. One other thing, is how can I place this design onto my existing organic geometry (preferably in rhino), projecting the design creates a really weird design that is not what i intended. I wish to have the Voronoi lattice so it looks something really organic and fluid to represent a parasite to a building like some of these images but simpler. Any guidance, is immensely appreciated, I understand my request is quite large. One way I thought of was to just use the lines on my geometry but i don’t know if its the most desired tool to create such beautifully intricate designs? I want it kind of acting like a structural system for the geometry and in some area’s more concentrated and some more sparse.

hi you can use this method

Hi Mehdi,

Thank you for your help! I have managed to load the file correctly and it’s exactly the type of pattern I’m looking for. Do you know how I can wrap it around the geometry that I have provided in my initial response, I read through the code but it appears you’ve generated the chair geometry in gh and not in rhino.

Thank you so much for all your help! This is really useful and the outcome I wanted to achieve, I appreciate it a lot.

Hi sorry again, in regards to calculating the load-bearing (to determine thickness of internal supporting framework) is there no way to extract some sort of wire-frame of the model as simple connected curves of straight lines that I can then put into Karamba? I noticed I got this result for the very simple geometry, but since I’ve developed it into something more complex, playing with the sliders (restricted to certain range of values to produce an output) I am not able to generate these curves any longer - I don’t know if you have a way of extracting these simple curves somehow. If not, I can probably try to get curves for a small section of the model, do you know what’s the best method or approach. Your help has been greatly appreciated.

Hi
Please upload the Grasshopper file.

Hi,

The grasshopper file is the same as you had provided. I just added my geometry to the brep and used the control points to adjust the shape and form of my design.

This file has no issues for structural analysis with Karamba. You have the lines, and I will send you my algorithm.

Hi thank you for your response, this is helpful although it’s quite hard to understand how I can calculate the loading. Apologies for having so many questions but I wanted to ask another question is if you knew a way to create surfaces in the voids - I want to create glass panes that fit the voids. Also to create plan and section drawings as I am struggling a bit, any advice is appreciated and thank you for teaching me so much.
