Hi McNeel
In the V8 WIP I’m seeing a change/buglet in the way clipping planes are initially created, specifically their direction. When creating a clipping plane the initial direction is away from the active view, which in my eyes is kinda counter intuitive.

Hi Jakob -
Yeah, I struggled with that one for quite some time, but I suppose I’m getting used to it now.
This was on purpose but I can’t remember the reason. I’ll ask.

Yeah, it’s not a big deal. I suspected that it might be on purpose, but I’m having a really hard time figuring out what the reason would be. I suspect that there will be a lot of “Why aren’t my clipping planes working?” - especially from new users. There’s no visual indication that the clipping plane is active, unless the objects behind the clipping plane are larger than what you have on the “other” side; eg. if it’s a symmetrical object (and a lot of product designs are!) being clipped down the construction plane/axis.
Thanks for chiming in, @wim!

Hi Jakob -
I was pointed to
… which resulted in RH-56249 ClippingPlane: Orientation is made consistent with Plane command

Thanks, @wim
I understand the quest for consistency between commands, but still find it backwards from a UI perspective!
