Unable to refresh License

This may (or may not) be useful in understanding cause of “Unable to refresh license” messages.

Licenses are in the Cloud Zoo.
Message about “Unable to refresh License” on desktop resolved after starting Rhino on laptop, and then starting Rhino on desktop.

Sequence of events.

When starting Rhino 7 or Rhino 8 on my desktop the notifications panel had been showing “Unable to refresh license for Rhino 7” with a yellow triangle. No message about license from Cloud Zoo. appeared. Rhino opened and worked normally.

I went to https://accounts.rhino3d.com/ and logged in. Message still appeared. when starting Rhino 7.

I restarted the desktop. Started Rhino 7 and the message was still there.

I turned on my laptop and started Rhino 7. Rhino has not been used on this machine for over a week, possibly two weeks. Message about license from Cloud Zoo appeared as Rhino 7 was starting. Notifications panel shows “License obtained for Rhino 7” with a green triangle. Closed Rhino 7.

So, if I understood correctly, the closed laptop still somehow had the license or the server didn’t know it was closed (i.e. the license was “stuck”) and so opening and closing it again to got it to release the license?

Something like that. But the desktop did not claim the license was in use elsewhere and did you I want to continue using it on the desktop. Rhino opened and worked normally. I’ll edit my original note to make that clear.

Yeah, seems sometimes the license ends up in limbo. That being said, sometimes my desktop doesn’t find the license either, and I have a 30 seat lab reseller license…

Hi @davidcockey thanks for reporting. This will be hard to repeat on my end but I’ve logged RH-73827 Unable to refresh license message
