ok guys up untill now i have had my fair share of ups and downs with the UI, but right now Rhino started acting weird first it loaded a little longer the splash screen looked like it got a hit then it would not let my type commands without having to specifically point my mouse into command prompt, then i restarted Rhino then suddenly Rhino decided it is going to toss all my UI setting over board and reset it to a non usable (because half of the stuff is strangely half hidden) UI with no chance of getting all my settings back? also the help which was now open could not connect anymore at first it said could not load file… so can somebody explain what happened? no i dont have my UI saved so now i can rebuild it all from scratch thank you.
no, not that i could see. though i have some cryptic versions under 8.0$$ which are rather old. i am sure i have changed the UI since then plentiful, or is there anything to salvage from these?
logically, what could cause this to happen? is there a timer that runs requesting certain files and when not served in time it resets? could it have been an memory issue and Rhino simply resets because of the hick up?
That’s a shame. I wish you at least had a single backup. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything to salvage from those folders…or I suspect the ones that contain a 2023 are going to be too old to be of use, even if we find what we need in there (too much has changed since we shipped).
I wish I knew. I can only speculate. I do wonder if there are multi-display situations (not sure if you are a multi-display user or not) where a window dimension (for whatever reason) gets set to some bogus value (0 or a native number) and the Window Layout system get confused. But I’m speculating. I’m also making some presumptions about what exactly the symptoms are.

I don’t think it could be either of these issues.
After all this mess, did you run Reset? I would be curious if you noticed if anything changed after that (I wouldn’t expect it to restore any lost customizations), but I do wonder which states of the UI were still in modified state before the Reset.
