Tagging light fixtures in a RCP live view

The live cut RCP has been recently fixed so that it prints vector correctly. This is great and means I don’t have to work with the plan cut anymore.

Now I have a question about how to get the light fixture and ceiling tags to show up correctly in the RCP . The plan cut approach allows you to change the level of the cut specific to that view and they bring in tags correctly. Not so much with a live cut.

I’d like the RCP to cut at 7’-0” above the floor below, which makes me think that should be a sub-level. But sub-levels don’t seem to show tags in the same way that a standard level does. And I’d prefer not to have to make an entire different level just to show an RCP anyway.

Long story short, how do yall recommend we tag light fixtures on an Reflected Ceiling Plan?

thanks,

Thomas

Hi @arcus Good question.
There is no “practical” solution for this right now. What I’d suggest to do is to move the tag below the level cut plane elevation. The RCP will show the element above the cut plane, and the tag that is below. The problem is that that tag will still be visible in regular plan views, pointing an object that is not visible. You can have it in a specific layer, and only show it when setting the view to RCP. We will study a better solution for this situation.

Ok thanks for the response. The different layers for plan tags vs rcp tags approach works well for me most of the time.

I’ve had a hit or miss time getting them to print on the RCP sheet. Especially when there are multiple ceiling and light fixture heights. I can typically get them to show if they are all on the ground floor cut plane, but not necessarily when there is a cut plane at 7’-0” up. If I can replicate the issue in a small enough file to send I will send you an example.

I’d prefer not to have an additional level for the rcp anyway, and just be able to tweak the RCP cut plan relative to the one above or below, similar to how the planview is set up. Just to limit the number of levels in the project.

thanks!

Hi @arcus I let you know that in VisualARQ 3.10 RC1, the tags located above the cut plane are displayed in RCP views.

Thanks! It looks like the tags work as expected in the ceiling plan view, but the tags above the cut plane are showing up in the plan view and when the plan cut is active, is that the expected behavior?

@arcus Can you share this file? I haven’t been able to reproduce this situation (I mean, the tag located above the cut plane doesn’t appear in the plan view, for me).

I didn’t actually save that file so I recreated it. This time, after I copy the detail over the rcp tag shows up in the detail, and the plan tag shows up in the rcp. Is it just my machine?

Hi @arcus Thanks for the file. It also happens in my machine. Strangely, this tag appears in the plan view from the page layout, but not in the plan view from the model space. We will revise this case.
