Ceiling Plan Issues

I am having issues trying to generate a ceiling plan in both the view port and in layout. I am getting a different result from what i believe to be the same settings and the result isn’t what i would expect at all. I have posted the different results below. If i “insert ceiling plan view” I get a different result again, but this result is more what i was expecting the ceiling plan views to look like.
The height at which the cut plane creates the view seems to be way off in the viewport and layout. Iam getting really confused as to how to make this feature work properly.

Hi @john_anders to see a model in reflected ceiling plan view of a specific level, it is necessary that the levels below are hidden.
In the same way the Cut plane in the level manager is activated on the upper visible level, for RCP, the cut plane is activated on the lower visible level.

You can set your viewport to RCP (either in the model space or in a Layout detail) from this shortcut in the Level Manager:

Then, the 2D plan view of a RCP should look exactly the same as the real-time RCP view of your model. If this still doesn’t work for you, please send me that file, so I’ll take a closer look.

I’ve been seeing the same issue. I’ve attached a basic file and the pdf it printed. This was made from a VA imperial foot template.

Live - Hidden
The live view understands the dashed lines but doesn’t print the curve near the ceiling, doesn’t include the wall hatches, and doesn’t print all of the eave line from the roof above.

Plan View
The plan view doesn’t get the dashed lines or the door swings (which, door swings aren’t really necessary in an rcp, so I guess that part is ok) and doesn’t see the eave at all, even though it is set to an unlimited view depth.

Live - Shaded
Neither vector prints sees the sphere in the space, so curved elements like that don’t show up at all.

thanks,

This is what i get when i follow what you are saying.
Nothing shows up.
I have already sent you the file that this is happening in. It is the one you are looking at for the gridline issue.

@arcus I’m reporting all these issues to the development team. Hopefully we will fix them in the next update.

@john_anders there seems to be a problem with the RCP of Sub-levels. That problem doesn’t happen in main levels. We will revise this for the next update too.

I’ll keep you posted!

@arcus @john_anders We have fixed most of the issues related to showing RCP of sub-levels in the VisualARQ 3.2 version, released today: VisualARQ 3 - Version 3.2 released

@arcus the error of the sphere not being displayed in RCP happens because you need to calculate the intersection between the sphere and the slab. It’s like seeing the intersection of a sphere and another object:
