Student Computer

Hello, I am a landscape architecture student. My college recommends an Alienware M16 as the minimum requirement (see recommended specs here), mainly for Rhino and Adobe.

This is a pretty expensive computer off the bat, and wanted to know if you think I could perform the same processes with a Lenovo Legion Slim (specs here).

Please let me know what you think. Thank you for your help.

I’ve had both, currently on a Lenovo Legion and its been great. The lenovo is more than enough for Rhino.

That’s amazing, thank you for your input. Do you think a slightly cheaper one ($899 to $1199) , an IdeaPad with a AMD Ryzen 6600H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 would suffice? Or should I go with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS?

If the former will suffice, I would rather save the $300, but am willing to spend it if the specs are not enough. Thank you again for your input

I always recommend Nvidia, due to the better drivers, granted that opinion has slipped a little bit but not enough to not recommend the Nvidia over AMD.

Mine is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU (NVidia) Memory: 8GB

Excellent, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate your input

If that RTX 3050 Mobile is as it reads on the spec sheet, it will be worth the extra to get the RTX 4060 model. As far as I can tell, the 3050 comes with 4GB of VRAM, which is a very typical limiting factor.

However, that is merely my point of view.

Ok, great. Think I will go with the RTX, thank you for your input!
