Strange issue with Copy Paste causing linked block to import again

I have this really strange issue with linked blocks. The problem happened in two completely different projects.

Just now I copied a text in a layout. Ctrl+C triggers the linked block update or re-import?

I pasted this here from my clipboard:

Paste in the viewport duplicated a linked block.

@Gijs something for you?

I think I need a file that shows this behavior and steps to reproduce.
What I did:

  1. I placed a link block in an existing file
  2. I created a layout
  3. Placed some text
  4. Copied the text (Cmd+C)
  5. Pasted in a modeling view (Cmd+V)
  6. Nothing happens at this point.

Here’s a simple example with a linked *.step and *.dxf

The blocks are set to linked, referenced

copy_paste_issue.3dm (70.4 KB)
collet.stp (83.4 KB)
box_100.dxf (101.1 KB)

I select the text or curve in the viewport. Does’t need to be in the layout.

Ctrl+C causes the *.step file to re-import. I suppressed the dialog.

With the *.step dialog switched on, I see this:

@stevebaer please check my example shared above.

Would be great if you could fix this copy paste issue

That is an odd one. Thanks for reporting RH-93758 Copy and paste initiates linked block
