Some text fields missing data

Hi,
I was working on a drawing at work,Today i am WFH and opened the drawing to discover that most of my text fields that link to the object have lost their association.
I have named the object(e.g. R1) then i do a text field to the name and then turn the whole thing into a block with the object and text field. It’s a very complicated build and i need to track all the pieces.
If i explode the object i see that the link has been changed to the result(if you see what i mean)
where as it was %<ObjectName(“42afb18f-1394-4db5-a801-a4f320537e59”)>% it is now R12

On initially opening the file i see long names(i assume the ID)
when i zoom in they disappear and turn into hashes

Any insights anyone?

Hello- I guess this can only work if the object in the block is made from a copy of the object referenced by the text fX. Then the ID stays stable.

Ok, thanks.
Is this expected behaviour, it seems a bit odd…

Hello- I would not say it is really expected - I just has a chat wirth the developer and he thinks we can probably make that work.
RH-82100 Text fields and blocks

Cool,Thanks

I dug into this and we aren’t going to be able to make this work for Rhino 8. I’m keeping this issue open as a wishlist item for the future.

ok.
Shame.
